Fourth of July Cake Smash Photography in Watertown WI
First birthdays deserve to be celebrated!
For this Watertown, Wisconsin first birthday photography session, we created a fun Fourth of July themed cake smash for a sweet baby boy.
The family planned a Fourth of July theme for his birthday party, so we brought that same idea into his cake smash photography setup.

Before we brought out the cake, we started with family and sibling photos.
I always love doing this first because it gives us a chance to capture those family connections before everyone gets distracted by the cake!
We photographed the birthday boy with his family and siblings. Then, we transitioned into the main event.
The Fourth of July cake smash setup matched the family's birthday party theme, creating a cohesive experience from the celebration to the photographs.
Baby's First Birthday Cake Smash
Once the cake arrived, baby boy completely smashed it.
And we loved every minute of it.
He explored the cake, played with it, and made everyone laugh as he figured out what exactly he was supposed to do with this giant birthday dessert.
Cake smash sessions are not about getting a perfectly clean photograph.
They are about letting your baby explore.
The messy hands, curious expressions, big smiles, and cake-covered faces are all part of the fun.
Splashing Into the End of the Session
After the cake smash, we finished with a little bath tub splash.
It gave baby boy a chance to clean up while also creating another set of adorable photographs.
That variety is one of my favorite parts of cake smash photography.
