How to Plan the Perfect Cake Smash Photoshoot
Planning a cake smash session doesn’t have to be stressful! Here’s how to make it easy and fun:
- Choose a theme or color palette. Keep it simple with just balloons and a color palette or go all out with a fun theme! I love creating the set up to your requests
- Book early! Snagging your date early and confirming the color/theme request helps both of us prepare
- Coordinate the cake. Light colors photograph best and keep the focus on your little one, simple white 5 or 6 inch cakes go with any set up but a themed matching cake can really add to the set as well! I do recommend to stay away from red frosting and chocolate cake.
- Bring a change of clothes. Things can get messy! If we are doing family photos before the cake smash I recommend bringing a change of clothes or being prepared to get a little frosting on you. The mess is part of it and don't stress over it!
- Bring a towel for a splash bath for extra fun. Ending our photo session with a bucket bath is usually the babies favorite part, and it makes for adorable photos.
