Watertown WI Newborn Photography for a Growing Family
One of my favorite parts of being a family photographer is watching families come back as their lives change.
I photographed this family when their son was born. So when they reached out again after welcoming their baby girl, I was so excited to see them!
There is something so rewarding about photographing the same family through different seasons. I get to see how much the kids have grown while documenting the newest chapter along the way.
This time, their family of three became a family of four.
Newborn Photos With a Big Brother
Big brother brought plenty of energy to this newborn family session.
He was fun, curious, and full of personality. He also loved checking on his baby sister and staying close to her.
Those sibling relationships are some of my favorite things to photograph during newborn sessions.
Of course, we captured the whole family together. We also photographed mom with baby girl, dad with baby girl, and big brother with his new sister. Then, we made time for baby girl to have a few photos all to herself.
That variety creates a gallery that tells the entire story of this new stage of family life.
A Vintage Pink Dress for Baby Girl
Mom brought along a vintage pale pink dress for baby girl, and it was absolutely adorable.
The soft pink felt especially sweet for a little girl and added a beautiful timeless element to her newborn portraits.
Baby girl also wore a light pink knitted pajama outfit instead of being wrapped in a traditional swaddle.
I love when families bring clothing options like this because an outfit can completely change the feeling of a newborn photograph.
Swaddled images can create that classic newborn look. However, a cozy knitted outfit brings a more lifestyle feeling to the gallery. You get to see those tiny arms and legs and more of baby's personality.
Neutral and Pale Pink Newborn Outfits
The rest of the family coordinated beautifully with neutral tones and pale pinks.
This type of color palette works especially well for newborn photography because it keeps the focus on the people while adding a soft, cohesive look throughout the gallery. You do not need everyone to wear matching outfits. Instead, choosing colors that work well together can create a timeless result.
Documenting Families as They Grow
Repeat clients make my job so special.
When I photographed this family for their son's newborn session, they were beginning a completely different chapter. Now, their little boy has become a big brother.
Those changes happen so quickly.
Newborn photography gives us a chance to slow down and preserve those tiny details. The baby expressions. The sibling cuddles. The way parents look at their newest little one.
