Why Booking Both Sessions Together Matters
One of the biggest benefits of booking a maternity and newborn photography bundle is the connection and comfort built before your baby arrives — especially for toddlers and young siblings.
This sweet family photographed for today’s blog post is the perfect example.
We first met for their maternity session in December while they were awaiting the arrival of their second baby girl. Their daughter was about to become a big sister, and we spent the session documenting all the excitement and love during those final weeks before baby arrived.
Maternity photos are ideally taken between 32–36 weeks of pregnancy, when your bump is beautifully visible but you’re still comfortable enough to move around and enjoy the session. Their maternity session included so many cozy family moments and playful interactions with their toddler daughter as they prepared to welcome baby girl.
Just a few weeks later in January, the family returned to my studio in Watertown for their newborn session when baby girl was only two weeks old. Because their toddler had already met me during the maternity session and was familiar with the studio space, she walked in completely comfortable and excited to participate in photos.
That familiarity makes such a difference during newborn sessions with toddlers. Instead of needing time to warm up, she was eager to cuddle her new baby sister, sit for sibling portraits, and be involved throughout the session.
